Education District VI has organised a one-day awareness seminar on Sexual Abuse and Child Trafficking for female secondary school students across its three zones. The programme was aimed at equipping young girls with knowledge, confidence, and practical tools to protect themselves and others.

The seminar, themed “Your Safety, Your Voice: Building a School Community Free from Abuse,” featured opening remarks by the Tutor-General and Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Mojisola Christiana Yusuff, who described the students as ambassadors tasked with sharing the knowledge gained with their peers.

The Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, encouraged the students to speak out against inappropriate behaviour, warning that silence can be misinterpreted. She urged them to protect their dreams and find their voices.

A presentation by Mrs. Elizabeth Ajeseni of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) highlighted the dangers of trafficking and the deceptive tactics used by traffickers, including false job and scholarship offers.

Education District VI reaffirmed its commitment to creating safer school environments, noting that empowering students with awareness and advocacy skills is essential to protecting lives, preserving dignity, and ensuring that every child’s voice is heard.
