The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, has called on Fellows of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) to embrace reflective thinking, strong relationships, and personal responsibility as essential tools for transformative leadership in Nigeria.

Dr. Hamzat made the call during a fireside chat with Fellows of the Academy, where discussions focused on leadership, governance, citizenship, and the importance of continuous learning in building sustainable systems.
According to the Deputy Governor, leadership goes beyond technical competence and formal authority, stressing that the ability to build meaningful relationships remains one of the most powerful yet undervalued drivers of impact and influence.
He further emphasised that national development cannot be left solely to government, urging citizens to take responsibility within their respective spaces, noting that leadership is a daily commitment to improvement rather than a title.

In her remarks, the Executive Secretary of LJLA, Mrs. Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade, described the session as a defining moment for the Fellows, stating that the discussion reinforced the Academy’s mission of developing reflective, responsible, and adaptive leaders for public service.
