  1. The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, will on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, flag off the Measles-Rubella and Routine Immunisation Campaign across the State, as part of efforts to strengthen child and adolescent health.

The week-long campaign, scheduled to run until 5 February 2026, will be implemented across all Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas, targeting children and adolescents against vaccine-preventable diseases.

Speaking on the initiative, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Ibrahim Akinwunmi Mustafa, mni, described immunisation as one of the most cost-effective public health interventions, noting its role in preventing diseases such as measles, rubella, polio, tuberculosis, and cervical cancer.

Dr. Mustafa emphasised that the vaccines are safe, effective, and free, urging parents, guardians, community and religious leaders, as well as school authorities, to support the campaign by ensuring eligible children are vaccinated.

The campaign will be supported by development partners including the Federal Ministry of Health, NPHCDA, WHO, and UNICEF, with vaccination services provided at health facilities, schools, religious centres, and temporary posts across the State.
