A Nigerian political figure based in the diaspora, Dr. Usman Tijjani Shehu, has formally returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after parting ways with the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Dr. Shehu, who has maintained strong ties within the Kwankwasiyya political bloc, said his decision followed extensive consultations with supporters and associates across Nigeria and abroad.

He noted that the move reflects a broader political realignment aimed at contributing to national progress, particularly in areas such as youth inclusion and human capital development.

According to him, the decision was not taken lightly but emerged from discussions with key stakeholders who share a common vision for Nigeria’s future political direction.

The UK-based professional pledged to actively mobilise both grassroots and diaspora support in favour of the APC as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, expressing readiness to contribute to its organisational strength and electoral success at various levels.

Dr. Shehu, who previously held leadership roles within the APC’s diaspora structure, has also been involved in youth-focused political engagements and national conferences.

Beyond politics, he has built a career in healthcare and business, with professional experience spanning Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

He had earlier contested for a seat in the House of Representatives under the NNPP during the 2023 elections, representing Gwarzo/Kabo Federal Constituency.

Calling for unity among his supporters, he urged Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to work collectively toward national development.

He also expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects, stating that sustained collaboration and commitment would be key to achieving long-term growth and stability in the country.
