Dep. Gov. Dr. Obafemi Hamzat Attends 11th Access Bank Lagos City Marathon at Eko Atlantic

The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, on Saturday served as Chief Host
at the 11th edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon held at Eko Atlantic, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The internationally recognized marathon, sponsored by Access Bank Plc, brought together elite athletes, amateur runners, corporate organizations, and fitness enthusiasts from different parts of the world. The race has grown steadily over the years to become one of Africa’s most celebrated long-distance events.
Representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dr. Hamzat applauded the organizers for sustaining the marathon’s global standard and for consistently showcasing Lagos as a city capable of hosting large-scale international sporting competitions. He noted that the event reflects the vibrancy, resilience, and economic strength of the state.
The Deputy Governor emphasized the broader impact of the marathon on tourism, hospitality, and small businesses, stating that thousands of visitors and participants contribute significantly to the local economy during the race period. He also highlighted the importance of sports in promoting healthy living and social cohesion.

As the 11th edition concluded successfully, Hamzat reaffirmed the state government’s continued partnership with private sector stakeholders to ensure that the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon remains a flagship sporting event that projects Lagos positively on the global stage.
