Nigeria’s Ambassador-Designate to China, Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, has assured Nigerians living in China of improved welfare support and stronger diplomatic engagement aimed at protecting their interests abroad.
According to him, the large Nigerian population in China, particularly those involved in trade and commercial activities, makes it necessary for the embassy to maintain close collaboration with NiDCOM to address challenges affecting citizens and strengthen communication channels with the diaspora community.
The ambassador-designate also urged Nigerians living in China to uphold good conduct and project a positive image of the country through their activities and interactions abroad.
Speaking on relations between both nations, Dambazau noted that Nigeria and China have continued to expand diplomatic and economic cooperation since establishing formal ties decades ago. He described recent high-level engagements between both countries as important steps toward strengthening development partnerships.
He referenced President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Beijing in 2024 as a significant moment in Nigeria-China relations, saying the engagement reinforced cooperation in infrastructure, investment and broader economic development initiatives.
Drawing from his background in security and governance, Dambazau stressed the need for stronger collaboration between Nigeria and China in tackling security threats. He said Nigeria could benefit from technical assistance, intelligence sharing and strategic cooperation with China in addressing emerging security concerns.
In her remarks, Dabiri-Erewa praised Dambazau for engaging with the commission before assuming office, describing his experience in public service and security administration as an advantage for Nigerians living in China.
She also highlighted the economic opportunities available through China-backed infrastructure and trade initiatives, adding that Nigerians in the diaspora remain vital contributors to investment and economic cooperation between both countries.
