The Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, has dismissed a viral online flyer alleging widespread kidnapping incidents along the Gbagada Expressway.

The flyer, which circulated across social media platforms, claimed that abductors were targeting commuters through ‘one chance’ operations using commercial buses, a message falsely attributed to the Lagos State Government.
Akosile, in a post on his official X account on Friday, urged Lagos residents to ignore the alarmist message, describing it as recycled misinformation intended to cause unnecessary panic.
He stressed that the state government had previously debunked the claim, noting that certain individuals were deliberately spreading fear by re-circulating fake content.

The CPS appealed to members of the public to remain calm and rely strictly on verified updates from official government and security channels.
“Good morning Lagos, please beware of this fake news circulating again! We have addressed it before, but those spreading false information continue to recycle it. Kindly disregard this notification. Thank you,” he wrote.
“We advise that you share this information with your family and friends, as heightened awareness and collective vigilance are crucial in maintaining the safety and well-being of our community,” he added.
The Lagos State Government reiterated its commitment to public safety and encouraged residents to stay vigilant while commuting, noting that accurate information remains vital in preventing panic and misinformation.
