A wave of grief has swept through the Nigerian and academic communities in the United States following the death of 23-year-old Oluwalayomi Fadero, a graduate nurse killed in a fatal crash in Nashville, Tennessee.

Friends and colleagues have since launched a GoFundMe campaign to support her family, with thousands of dollars already raised toward funeral and related expenses.

Fadero lost her life after a stolen vehicle, reportedly driven by a suspect fleeing police, sped in the wrong direction and collided with her car. Authorities said the driver, who has an extensive criminal record, was later apprehended and is expected to face multiple felony charges.

The young nurse, a recent graduate of Fisk University, had been pursuing further studies in nursing before the tragic incident. Her death has drawn tributes from classmates, lecturers, and friends, who described her as compassionate, dedicated, and full of promise.

University officials also expressed deep sorrow, offering condolences to her family and support services to grieving students.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing as legal proceedings against the suspect are expected to follow.
