A 14-year-old British-Nigerian, Eghosa Ogbebor, has been shot dead in the Woolwich area of southeast London, triggering a homicide investigation and the arrest of three teenagers.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Thursday afternoon following reports of gunfire. Paramedics responded swiftly and made efforts to revive the teenager, but he was pronounced dead at the location.

Police authorities confirmed that three suspects, a 14-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy, and an 18-year-old male, have been arrested in connection with the killing. All three remain in custody as investigations continue.

The Metropolitan Police stated that the victim’s family has been formally informed of the tragedy and is currently receiving support from specially trained officers during the difficult period.

Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card, who is leading the investigation, appealed to members of the public to assist with useful information that could help establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

She also noted that security presence in Woolwich has been intensified to reassure residents, acknowledging the shock and concern the incident has caused within the community, particularly due to the victim’s young age.

The fatal shooting adds to growing concerns over youth-related violence in the United Kingdom, with recent incidents involving teenagers drawing increased public attention and calls for stronger preventive measures.
