A Nigerian dancer based in Ireland, Tobi Omoteso, is battling serious vision impairment following a violent road-rage incident in Limerick that has drawn widespread concern and support.

The attack occurred as Omoteso was travelling to a street dance and hip-hop event when a confrontation reportedly began after a brief traffic dispute. According to his account, another driver began trailing his vehicle before escalating the situation into a physical assault.

The suspect allegedly forced a stop, emerged with a bat, and smashed the windows of Omoteso’s car. The impact sent shards of glass flying, leaving the dancer with multiple injuries, including severe damage to one of his eyes.

Omoteso explained that fragments of glass struck his face and entered his eye, resulting in significant trauma that required urgent medical attention. He has since undergone treatment at medical facilities in Limerick, where specialists are working to manage the extent of the damage.

Doctors have indicated that he may require several surgical procedures in an effort to restore partial vision. Despite these efforts, the injury is believed to have caused permanent impairment that could affect both his daily life and professional career as a performer.

The incident has sparked an outpouring of public sympathy, with supporters contributing tens of thousands of euros through an online fundraiser to assist with his medical expenses and recovery.

Meanwhile, Irish police have confirmed that an investigation is underway. Authorities stated that a man in his 30s sustained serious injuries during the incident and that inquiries are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible.
