The Yoruba Nurses in the Diaspora have announced plans to conduct a free medical outreach in Ogun State as part of efforts to improve access to healthcare and promote the wellbeing of residents, particularly those with limited access to medical services.

The outreach, scheduled for December 16, is being organised by the Yoruba Nurses of North America in partnership with Shokesta Development, and is aimed at delivering compassionate healthcare services to communities across the state.

Speaking with journalists in Ibadan on Saturday, the founder of Shokesta Development and partner to the initiative, Oluwakemi Abiodun Soyebi, said the programme would offer a wide range of free medical services under the 2025 theme, “Gateway to a Healthy Life.”

She explained that the outreach would include essential health screenings, medical consultations, and health education designed to promote early detection, prevention, and healthier lifestyles among residents of Ogun State.

According to her, the medical mission will be held in Remo and extended to other parts of the state, including Yewa, Egbaland, and Ijebu communities, to ensure broad coverage and reach underserved populations.

“Residents will benefit from screenings for blood pressure, blood glucose levels, and visual acuity, helping with early detection and prevention of common but serious health conditions that often go unnoticed,” Soyebi said.
“Beyond screenings, the programme will also focus on breast cancer awareness, basic mental health education, malaria prevention, and infection control, while members of the nursing team will be fully involved in consultations, screenings, and health counselling,” she added.

Soyebi noted that the outreach reflects a strong spirit of unity and service, describing it as a timely intervention that offers hope to many residents, as professionals in the diaspora return home to give back through expertise, compassion, and direct medical care.
