US Embassy Updates Nigeria Visa Process.

The United States Embassy in Nigeria has revised its immigration visa procedures for applicants starting January 1, 2025. Under the new directive, individuals with scheduled interviews must visit the US Consulate General in Lagos twice as part of the process.

The directive was announced on its official X page on Tuesday.

It read, “For applicants with interviews scheduled after January 1, 2025, you are required to visit the Consulate General in Lagos at least twice during the immigrant visa process.

The two-step process involves:

1. In-Person Document Review: During the first visit, consular staff will review applicants' documents to ensure they are adequately prepared for their visa interviews. This step allows applicants to address any missing documentation in advance, aiming to minimize delays in processing.

2. Visa Interview: The second visit will involve the actual visa interview with a Consular Officer. This interview date will be scheduled by the National Visa Center (NVC).

Applicants who fail to complete the In-Person Document Review before their scheduled visa interview will need to reschedule their appointments.

This change aims to streamline the immigration visa process and reduce delays in application processing.
