Ugandan authorities have detained two Nigerian nationals in connection with a suspected international criminal network involving drug trafficking and identity fraud, following a coordinated security operation in Kampala

Officials say the arrests were made during an intelligence-driven crackdown led by the country’s internal security and immigration agencies. The operation reportedly exposed a complex network allegedly naed by a Ugandan businessman with a history of drug-related offences and links to multiple countries.v

Investigators claim the syndicate used forged identities, multiple passports, and front companies to facilitate illegal activities across borders. The suspected ringleader is also accused of impersonating government and military officials, while maintaining properties falsely presented as diplomatic residences.

Authorities further allege that several foreign nationals, including Nigerians, were actively involved in the network. Some suspects are currently in custody, while others remain at large, with international agencies assisting in ongoing efforts to track them down.

Security operatives reportedly recovered firearms, ammunition, communication equipment, and several identification documents during searches linked to the case.

Ugandan officials have reiterated their strict stance against drug trafficking and warned that investigations will continue, including a review of the immigration status of all individuals connected to the case.
