A Nigerian man based in the United Kingdom has died suddenly in his apartment, in an incident that has left his family and community in shock.
The deceased, identified as Herbert, was found unresponsive in his home in Thornaby, a town in northeast England.
Reports indicate that he passed away in his sleep, with no immediate signs of foul play. Family members disclosed that the late Herbert had been under emotional strain in recent days following the loss of his father in Nigeria. He was said to have supported burial arrangements from abroad, which reportedly placed additional financial pressure on him.
The tragedy reportedly unfolded in a distressing manner, as his children were the ones who discovered his body. His wife was said to be away at the time of the incident.
Described by those who knew him as a devoted husband and responsible father, Herbert is survived by his wife and three young children, who are now left to cope with the sudden loss.
Members of the Nigerian community in the UK have since expressed condolences, noting that the incident has deeply affected many within the diaspora network.
Community leaders have also confirmed the development and are mobilising support for the bereaved family, particularly in light of the financial demands associated with funeral arrangements.
A fundraising effort has been initiated to assist with burial costs and the possible return of his remains to Nigeria, as appeals continue for support from Nigerians both in the UK and beyond.
