According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President had arrived in Lagos on September 26, following his attendance at the coronation ceremony of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, in Ibadan.

During his stay in Lagos, President Tinubu met with prominent investors, including Bayo Ogunlesi, Chief Executive Officer of Global Infrastructure Partners, and Keem Belo-Osagie, Chairman of Metis Capital Partners and former Chairman of United Bank for Africa and Etisalat. The discussions reportedly centred on boosting Nigeria’s infrastructure financing and strengthening private-sector partnerships to accelerate national development.

The President also received the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, alongside the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and other maritime sector leaders. Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to positioning Nigeria’s maritime industry as a viable alternative revenue source in the post-fossil energy era.

Ahead of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, the President travelled to Imo State to inaugurate projects executed by Governor Hope Uzodimma and unveiled a book authored by the governor chronicling a decade of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in government.

Tinubu also delivered his Independence Day address from the State House, Dodan Barracks, and later commissioned the renovated National Theatre, now renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts. He urged Nigerians to remain optimistic and speak positively about their country.

The President subsequently attended the burial of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, mother of APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, in Jos, Plateau State, where he paid tribute to the late matriarch and assured northern Christians of his government’s commitment to fairness and equity.

On his return to Abuja, Tinubu met with the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bashir Ojulari, at the State House, where he was briefed on the company’s operational performance, investment initiatives, and progress toward achieving national production targets.

The President is expected to resume full official duties this week following his return to the capital.
