Tinubu Congratulates Wale Edun on Royal Victorian Order Honour

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, on his appointment to the prestigious Royal Victorian Order by King Charles III, describing the honour as a significant international recognition of the minister’s longstanding dedication to youth development, public service, and initiatives that promote leadership and national development beyond Nigeria’s shores.

The President’s congratulatory message was conveyed in a statement issued yesterday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, in which Tinubu welcomed the conferment and praised Edun’s contributions to global youth empowerment efforts.

King Charles III appointed the Nigerian minister as a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) in recognition of his sustained and impactful contributions to the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, a globally respected youth development programme.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a worldwide initiative focused on equipping young people with essential life skills, strong character, leadership capacity, and a sense of civic responsibility, and it operates in several countries, including Nigeria.

President Tinubu noted that thousands of young Nigerians have benefitted from the programme’s leadership and personal development framework, stressing that such initiatives play a vital role in preparing youths to contribute meaningfully to national growth and global competitiveness.

“The recognition accorded to Mr. Wale Edun reflects his deep commitment to youth development and aligns strongly with this administration’s focus on empowering young Nigerians and creating opportunities for them to thrive,” the President said.

“This honour is well-deserved and underscores the value of service, dedication, and international collaboration in shaping a better future for our youths and the nation at large,” he added.

President Tinubu further applauded Edun, a key member of his economic management team, for his industry and dedication, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to nurturing Nigeria’s youths as leaders of today and tomorrow while pursuing national renewal and inclusive economic growth.
