President Bola Tinubu has approved the inclusion of the construction of the Itawure–Aramoko–Ado Ekiti and Aramoko–Ijero–Ifaki Ekiti roads in the 2026 federal budget.

The approval was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to the Ekiti State Governor on Media, Yinka Oyebode, who said the move marks another milestone in the Federal Government’s commitment to infrastructure renewal across the Southwest.
According to Oyebode, a letter conveying the presidential approval has already been sent from the Office of the President to the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, with a copy also forwarded to Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State.
He noted that the two newly approved roads, when completed, would improve travel efficiency, enhance regional connectivity, and open up new commercial opportunities for communities along the corridors.

Oyebode explained that the approval followed a recent visit by Governor Oyebanji and Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, to President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where they raised concerns over the poor condition of federal roads in the state.
“When constructed, these two major roads will not only ease travelling but also boost trade, improve access to farmlands, and connect Ekiti more effectively to neighbouring states,” Oyebode said. “This approval is a clear demonstration of President Tinubu’s responsiveness to the needs of the people and his commitment to balanced national development.”
“On behalf of the government and good people of Ekiti State, Governor Biodun Oyebanji expresses profound appreciation to President Tinubu for his strategic intervention in the state’s socio-economic and infrastructural development. The governor also assures residents that Ekiti will continue to partner with the Federal Government to sustain progress,” he added.
Oyebode reaffirmed that contractors handling other ongoing federal road projects, including the Akure–Ikere–Ado Ekiti and Ifaki–Oye–Ikole–Omuo Ekiti roads, have been mobilised to site, while the state government continues to execute its own extensive network of inter-city and intra-city road works to complement federal efforts.
