TG/PS of EDD-VI Seeks Community Support To Boost Enrolment, Discipline In Idi-Araba Schools

Education officials in Lagos are taking a grassroots approach to improving student lloutcomes in the Mushin area. Mrs. Mojisola Christiana Yusuff, the Tutor-General and Permanent Secretary of Education District VI, recently conducted a monitoring tour of public schools in the Idi-Araba community. The visit was part of a broader effort to assess school readiness for the second academic term and address local challenges directly.



​A key highlight of the tour was a courtesy visit to the Palace of the Sarki of Idi-Araba, Alhaji Hassan Abubakar Aliyu. During the meeting, Mrs. Yusuff raised concerns regarding the rising levels of indiscipline among students and the need for higher enrollment figures. She appealed to the traditional ruler to use his influence to mobilize parents and community stakeholders in support of the schools.

Mrs. Yusuff emphasized that the education of the youth is a collective responsibility that extends beyond the classroom walls. She called for a stronger partnership between the community and the district to safeguard school infrastructure from vandalism. According to the TG/PS, a well-maintained environment is crucial for fostering a culture of excellence and ensuring students remain in school until graduation.

​In a show of solidarity, the Sarki, represented by Council Secretary Alhaji Hussain H. Abdullahi, assured the education team of the community's full cooperation. He stated firmly that the palace does not condone indiscipline and is committed to promoting a conducive learning environment. The community leadership pledged to sensitize residents on the life-changing importance of completing secondary education.



This collaborative effort marks a significant step in bridging the gap between the school system and the local community. By involving traditional leaders, Education District VI hopes to create a support network that encourages discipline and academic persistence. As the new term kicks off, the focus remains on ensuring no child in Idi-Araba is left behind.
