Southern Governors’ Forum Meets in Ogun to Address Pressing Issues

The Southern Governors’ Forum is scheduled to meet today in Iperu, Ogun State, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen regional cooperation and address pressing national and developmental concerns.

The meeting was announced in a statement issued by the Ogun State Governor and Chairman of the Forum, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who confirmed that the session will hold at 10:00 a.m. at the Governor’s Residence in Iperu.

According to the statement, the gathering will bring together governors from the southern region to review matters of shared interest and align strategies for improved governance and regional stability.

It also revealed that the Forum will, at 1:00 p.m. today, hold a joint engagement with the Southern Traditional Rulers Council to deepen collaboration between political leaders and traditional institutions.

The session with traditional rulers is expected to explore issues of regional significance and promote stronger synergy in tackling security, development, and socio-economic challenges.


“As we prepare to host the Southern Governors’ Forum meeting today, we were pleased to receive some of the distinguished attendees, particularly traditional rulers and respected leaders from across the southern region,” Governor Abiodun said in a post on X.
“Their visit offered us the opportunity to deepen ongoing engagements and align our shared expectations ahead of the gathering. We value the presence of our royal fathers and regional leaders, whose wisdom and guidance continue to enrich our processes,” he added.

Governor Abiodun noted that Ogun State remains committed to fostering honest dialogue and enhanced collaboration among all stakeholders as the region works collectively toward peace, stability, and development.
