The Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, has reaffirmed that the Lagos–Badagry Superhighway will significantly boost Nigeria’s economy, enhance regional integration, and create thousands of jobs across the country.

Goronyo gave the assurance on Thursday while inspecting the Kebbi section of the road project, commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for championing infrastructure development that cuts across every region irrespective of political affiliation.
The Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of work, noting that Hightech Construction had completed nearly four kilometres of reinforced concrete pavement, cleared approximately 64 kilometres, and finished earth filling on 15 kilometres of the corridor.
He added that solar streetlights had already been installed on completed stretches of the road, describing the project as one that reflects President Tinubu’s determination to deliver long-lasting, high-standard highways capable of supporting Nigeria’s economic expansion.

Goronyo emphasised that the superhighway would not only enhance the movement of goods and services across the country but also open vast opportunities for trade, reduce insecurity, and stimulate economic activities in communities along the route.
“Hightech has demonstrated commendable commitment and technical capacity on this project. They have completed nearly four kilometres of reinforced concrete pavement, cleared close to 64 kilometres, and finished the filling of 15 kilometres. These achievements underscore Mr President’s resolve to build highways that will endure for 50 years or more, ensuring durability, safety, and long-term national benefit,” the Minister stated.
“This superhighway is a historic investment stretching from Illela near the Niger Republic border down to Lagos. The economic impact is enormous from massive job creation during and after construction to increased regional trade and improved security. As we move toward the 2027 elections, I urge our citizens, especially in the North, not to be swayed by political narratives but to recognise the President’s genuine commitment to unity, development, and prosperity,” he added.
Goronyo further recalled that although the project was first conceived during the Shagari administration, it never took off until President Tinubu revived it, describing this as evidence of the administration’s dedication to building a stronger and more connected Nigeria.
He concluded by stating that President Tinubu has “started strongly” and will “take the country to the promised land” with continued public support.
