Shettima, Sanwo-Olu Attend COAS Annual Conference in Lagos

Vice President Kashim Shettima is in Lagos State to attend the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Annual Conference 2025, an event focused on reviewing national security challenges and strengthening strategies for long-term peace and stability in the country.
The Vice President was received on Monday by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alongside other top government officials upon his arrival in the state for the high-level military gathering.
Governor Sanwo-Olu was, in turn, welcomed at the conference venue by the nation’s service chiefs, as senior military officers and dignitaries gathered for the annual strategic engagement.
The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), is also attending the conference, alongside other service chiefs, and was seen exchanging greetings with former colleagues at the event.
The Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference 2025 brings together senior military leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to deliberate on security issues confronting the nation and chart a path toward sustainable solutions.
“Upon arrival at the venue of the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference in Lagos, Vice President Kashim Shettima inspected a military guard of honour, in line with the armed forces’ traditional way of paying tribute to a dignitary,” said Stanley Nkwocha, Spokesman to the President on Media and Communications.
“The Vice President is representing President Bola Tinubu as the Special Guest of Honour at the conference, underscoring the administration’s commitment to strengthening national security and supporting the armed forces,” he added.
The conference is themed “Examining the Current Landscape of Terrorism Through the Lenses of Diplomatic and Military Action Strategy for Long-term Prevention and Stabilisation,” and will also feature the unveiling of the book A Life of Service, in honour of the 23rd Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.
