Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Davos, Switzerland, to lead the Nigerian delegation at the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF). The global summit, which runs from January 19 to 23, 2026, serves as a premier gathering for world leaders, CEOs, and influential thinkers. Shettima’s presence underscores Nigeria’s commitment to engaging with the global community to drive investment and economic cooperation.

The Vice President’s arrival in Switzerland follows a busy diplomatic schedule, including his recent trip to Conakry, Guinea. In Guinea, he represented President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of President Mamadi Doumbouya. Upon his arrival in Davos, Shettima was received by a high-powered team including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole.

A significant highlight of this year’s participation is the unveiling of "Nigeria House Davos" on the Davos Promenade. This dedicated sovereign pavilion is the first of its kind for the country at the forum and was made possible through a public-private partnership. The facility is designed to be a strategic hub for ministerial engagements, where Nigeria can showcase its economic potential and cultural heritage to the world.

Throughout the week, Nigeria House will host investment roundtables and diplomatic dialogues aimed at attracting foreign capital. Vice President Shettima is expected to officially inaugurate the pavilion and present Nigeria’s economic outlook to international investors. The goal is to position Nigeria as a prime destination for business by highlighting ongoing reforms and emerging opportunities in sectors like tech, energy, and agriculture.

By establishing a permanent presence on the Davos Promenade, Nigeria aims to enhance its visibility on the global stage. The delegation plans to use this platform to address regional challenges and advocate for a rules-based international order that benefits emerging economies. The Vice President’s mission is clear: to ensure that Nigeria's voice is heard in the critical conversations that shape the future of the global economy.
