President Barzani Applauds the Strategic Contributions of the Kurdish Diaspora

President Masoud Barzani has underscored the vital role of the Kurdish diaspora in advancing the interests and identity of the Kurdish people. Receiving a delegation from the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation at the presidential headquarters, he described their contributions in scientific, cultural, and political fields as “distinct and highly impactful.”

Speaking at the meeting, President Barzani highlighted the historical struggle of the Kurdish people, emphasizing their enduring commitment to preserving identity, promoting peace, and welcoming coexistence among diverse religious and ethnic groups in the region.

The president also drew attention to the ongoing challenges facing the Kurdistan Region, particularly the threat posed by narcotics, urging a coordinated and firm response to protect public health and security. He reaffirmed the Kurdistan Regional Government’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, including water, electricity, and road development, as part of service-oriented governance.

President Barzani further stressed the importance of strengthening ties between the homeland and Kurds abroad, noting that diaspora communities are key ambassadors for Kurdistan’s interests globally. He encouraged the Kurdish diaspora to engage actively in education, research, and cultural promotion while serving as a bridge to their host countries.

The Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation, which represents Kurdish communities worldwide, was praised for its efforts to unify the diaspora, preserve Kurdish culture, and advocate for national interests internationally. Its programs include educational initiatives, cultural events, and lobbying efforts designed to strengthen both the Kurdish identity and global awareness of the Kurdish cause.

Barzani concluded by calling for continued support for the peace process in neighboring Türkiye and reaffirmed the need for Kurdish communities abroad to foster friendships and alliances that further the cause of justice for the Kurdish people.

The delegation, representing Kurdish communities across multiple continents, expressed gratitude for the president’s recognition and pledged to continue contributing to the homeland’s social, scientific, and cultural development.
