President Bola Tinubu has intervened in the political crisis rocking Rivers State, holding a late-night meeting with key stakeholders in a bid to ease tensions between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.

The meeting, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, was attended by both political leaders and other influential figures from Rivers State. While official details were not disclosed, the engagement is believed to be part of reconciliation efforts.

According to reports by The Nation, the talks yielded signs of de-escalation, with Governor Fubara reportedly accompanying Wike to his residence in Guzape, Abuja, after the meeting.

The report further alleged that Fubara appealed to the former governor, pledging to maintain respect and signalling a willingness to repair their strained political relationship.

The development has raised hopes of renewed political stability in Rivers State, where prolonged tensions between rival factions have threatened governance and party unity ahead of future electoral cycles.
