The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has acknowledged the intermittent power supply and prolonged outages currently being experienced by customers across its franchise areas covering Oyo, Kwara, Ogun, Ibadan and Osun states, expressing regret over the inconvenience caused to residents and businesses.

In a statement issued by its management, the electricity distribution company explained that the situation was beyond its immediate control and had affected service delivery across several feeders within its coverage area.

According to IBEDC, the disruptions are primarily due to a reduction in load allocation from the national grid, which has significantly limited the volume of electricity available for distribution to customers within its network.

The company noted that the reduced allocation has resulted in constrained supply and has made it difficult to maintain stable and consistent power across all service bands.

IBEDC assured customers that it is working with relevant stakeholders to address the challenge and restore improved supply as soon as conditions permit.

“IBEDC is actively engaging the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Nigeria Independent System Operator (NISO) to improve supply stability and address the current limitations affecting our franchise area,” the statement said.
“In the interim, available load is being strategically allocated and equitably distributed across feeders and service bands to ensure fairness, balance and operational efficiency while efforts to stabilise supply continue,” it added.

The company thanked customers for their patience and understanding, reaffirming its commitment to keeping the public informed as developments unfold and to delivering improved electricity supply once grid conditions improve.
