The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two Cameroonian nationals alleged to be part of a cross-border human trafficking and kidnapping syndicate specialising in luring victims into Nigeria under the guise of processing foreign visas.

Police spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, said the arrest followed a distress call from a Cameroonian woman who reported that she and her 23-year-old sister were deceived into travelling to Nigeria by a fellow national identified as Donald, who had promised to secure a Canadian visa for her.

According to Odutola, the victim arrived Nigeria on September 29, 2025, and was received at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos by members of the supposed “travel agency” before being transported to Mowe in Ogun State, where she and her sister were held hostage.

She escaped captivity on November 3 and alerted the police, leading operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to storm a two-bedroom apartment in the Pakuro area, where another victim, Kengne Maeva, was rescued unhurt. Two suspects Ndzana Kamga Isidore and Tingue Stephen were arrested, while the alleged mastermind, Donald, is still at large

Police investigations also revealed that the victims’ families in Cameroon had transferred 3,600,000 CFA as ransom into the fleeing suspect’s bank account.

“Following the report, operatives immediately raided the hideout and rescued another victim without injuries,” Odutola stated.
“The Commissioner of Police has ordered continuous surveillance and urged community leaders to report suspicious foreigners renting apartments, especially in remote areas,” she added
