The Ogun State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to rehabilitating major roads in the Ota axis, following concerns raised by residents and members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) over the deplorable state of road infrastructure in the area.

The assurance was given during a meeting convened by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade (SAN), who met with the leadership of the NBA Ota branch to address issues that led to the protest held on October 25, 2025.
Ogungbade stated that the Dapo Abiodun-led administration has constructed or rehabilitated over 1,500 kilometres of roads since assuming office, noting that Ota was the first beneficiary of the state’s road projects under the current government.
He emphasised that the government remains committed to improving road infrastructure across Ogun State and urged residents to be wary of political actors attempting to exploit the road situation for their own agenda.

The NBA delegation, led by Chairperson Kelubia K. Ajose, explained that the protest was driven by the frustrations of the entire Ota community and was aimed at drawing the government’s attention to the dire condition of roads in the area.
“We embarked on the protest solely to highlight the suffering of our people. It was a peaceful demonstration, and we made sure no external individuals or groups hijacked our intentions,” the NBA delegation said.
“We also stressed that residents do not differentiate between state and federal roads; all they want is motorable roads that guarantee safety and ease of movement,” the group added.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Kayode Akinmade, appreciated the NBA delegation for the visit and assured them that their concerns would be communicated directly to Governor Dapo Abiodun, while urging them to remain conscious of attempts by political adversaries to take advantage of the situation.
