Nigerian Northerner Elected As Diaspora Youth President In Switzerland




Bashiru Muhammad has been elected as the new president of the Nigerian Youth in Diaspora based in Zurich, Switzerland.


This marks a historic moment as he becomes the first president from northern Nigeria since the organization's inception. The election, which saw active participation from the community, had a total of 1,230 votes cast, with Muhammad securing 229 votes (18.62%).


The diverse representation and inclusivity of NYD are reflected in his election. Five other candidates contended for the position, with Ayomide Adedayo, Adetola Ayotunde, Adesola Adisa, Chibuike Kelechi, and Chinonso Chidiebere also running.


The NYD community congratulates Muhammad on his victory, expressing confidence in his leadership to propel the organization to new heights and empower Nigerian youth in the diaspora.
