A Nigerian medical student in Saint Lucia, Bob Chikwem Amadi, has described his encounter with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Saint Lucian Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre as a deeply inspiring moment in his life.

Amadi, a student at the American International University in Saint Lucia, met both leaders during President Tinubu’s ongoing state visit to the Caribbean nation. The meeting occurred during a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister’s official residence on the second day of the President’s tour.

Amadi, who is originally from Rivers State, was part of the catering and entertainment team serving at the event , a role he takes on part-time alongside his medical studies. He was introduced to President Tinubu after Prime Minister Pierre was informed by staff that a Nigerian student was among the service team.

During the brief exchange, President Tinubu asked about Amadi’s background and studies and offered words of encouragement. The medical student was later invited to join both leaders for a group photograph , a moment he described as unforgettable.

“This is an inspiring moment for me,” Amadi said. “Saint Lucia is an amazing island — calm, contented, and culturally rich. We share a lot in common with Nigeria, from our food to our heritage.”

Amadi has lived in Saint Lucia for a decade. Having completed a four-year basic programme in medicine, he is now preparing for the clinical phase of his training.

He also expressed hope for deeper ties between Nigeria and Saint Lucia, highlighting the similarities in culture and agricultural practices.

President Tinubu’s visit to Saint Lucia is part of his broader diplomatic engagement with Caribbean nations aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and exploring areas of mutual cooperation
