A Nigerian national and a Kenyan citizen have been arrested by Kenyan authorities in connection with a suspected narcotics trafficking operation, following an intelligence-driven security crackdown.

The operation was carried out by detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit in collaboration with the Transnational Organised Crime Unit, who had received information about a planned drug exchange.

Initial intelligence pointed to Syokimau in Machakos County as the location for the suspected transaction. However, upon arrival, officers discovered that the meeting had been called off before it could take place.

Acting on updated information from covert sources, the security team redirected the operation to Ruaka in Kiambu County, where the suspects were believed to have relocated.

A search conducted at a residential apartment in the area led to the recovery of several items, including substances suspected to be narcotics, digital weighing scales, mobile phones, foreign passports, and cash in both Kenyan and Nigerian currencies.

The suspects were identified as Okeke Ikechukwu, a Nigerian national, and Alex Opondo, a Kenyan citizen. They were subsequently taken into custody and moved to designated police stations for processing.

Authorities confirmed that the recovered items would undergo forensic analysis, while investigations continue to track down other individuals linked to the network. The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court as efforts intensify to dismantle the trafficking operation.
