Dr. Timileyin Oluseyi, a Nigerian-born medical doctor based in the United States, has achieved a historic milestone by sweeping all eight top awards in his medical residency program an unprecedented feat in the institution's history.
Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), lauded Oluseyi’s achievement, calling it a moment of national and continental pride. In a press statement issued in Abuja, Dabiri-Erewa described Oluseyi’s accomplishment as “excellence at its peak,” noting that he outperformed his peers in every major evaluation metric.
“This is the kind of story we want the world to hear about Nigerians,” Dabiri-Erewa said. “Dr. Timileyin Oluseyi exemplifies the resilience, brilliance, and dedication Nigerians in the diaspora are known for. He has become a beacon of hope for the next generation.”

What makes the achievement even more remarkable is that Oluseyi is the first Black resident in the program's history to win all eight top honors, breaking longstanding records and setting a new standard of excellence in medical training.
NiDCOM emphasized the importance of celebrating such extraordinary accomplishments as a way of reshaping global perceptions about Nigerians and Africans at large. “His success story reminds us of the immense potential within the diaspora,” Dabiri-Erewa said, adding that the commission remains committed to supporting Nigerians who continue to distinguish themselves abroad.
Dr. Oluseyi's achievement comes at a time when Nigeria is seeking to strengthen its global reputation through the contributions of its citizens around the world, especially in sectors like healthcare, technology, and education.
NiDCOM urged young Nigerians to draw inspiration from Oluseyi’s journey and to recognize the global impact they can make through hard work and excellence.
