A 44-year-old Nigerian national, Samuel Ikkena, has been apprehended in Bengaluru, India, over his alleged involvement in a large-scale drug trafficking network.
Authorities say the suspect was arrested by police in the Yelahanka area following an investigation into narcotics distribution targeting residents and students across the city. Ikkena is accused of operating the illegal trade under the cover of a clothing business.
During the operation, officers reportedly recovered about 2 kilograms of MDMA crystals, commonly known as ecstasy, alongside significant quantities of cannabis, heroin, and other substances. The total street value of the seized drugs is estimated to exceed N290 million.
Investigators disclosed that Ikkena allegedly sourced the drugs locally and sold them at inflated prices through a structured distribution network.
Police added that the suspect had been living in India since 2012, initially engaging in garment trading before relocating to Bengaluru last year.
The arrest forms part of a broader crackdown that led to multiple detentions across different parts of the city, including other foreign nationals and local suspects linked to drug supply chains.
Authorities say further investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend key figures behind the operation, with charges already filed under India’s narcotics control laws.
