The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has urged Kenyan authorities to launch a thorough investigation into the tragic death of Ms. Ladi Anzaki Olubunmi, a Nigerian content moderator working with TikTok’s contractor, Teleperformance, in Kenya.
In a statement released by NiDCOM’s Media and Public Relations Unit, the Commission’s Chairperson, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, expressed deep condolences to Olubunmi’s family, friends, and colleagues. She also emphasized the urgent need for Nigeria to enact a Labour Mobility Law to better protect its citizens working abroad.
Dabiri-Erewa noted that such legislation would ensure proper documentation, monitoring, and mental health support for Nigerian migrant workers, as well as ease their repatriation when necessary.
The Commission confirmed that Nigeria’s High Commission in Kenya has been tasked with monitoring the case and offering assistance to the deceased’s family.

NiDCOM also appealed to Nigerians living in Kenya to remain calm as investigations continue.
Ms. Olubunmi, who had worked with the company since 2022, was found dead in her Nairobi apartment after being absent from work for three days. Her body was discovered in a decomposed state.
The Commission further advised Nigerians seeking opportunities abroad to verify the credibility of potential employers and be aware of available support systems.
