The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), has received 100 Nigerians who returned from Algeria.

The group arrived on Wednesday at the cargo terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos aboard an Air Algérie flight, as part of ongoing efforts to assist stranded nationals abroad.

According to NEMA, the return was facilitated under the Assisted Voluntary Return programme coordinated by the International Organization for Migration in partnership with the Federal Government.

A breakdown of the returnees shows that 96 were adults, including 77 men and 19 women, while four were infants.

Upon arrival, officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service conducted biometric registration and proper documentation of the returnees to maintain accurate records and support their reintegration process.

Authorities also provided immediate humanitarian support to the group, including food, clean water, and medical attention for those requiring care.

Additional assistance covered logistics such as luggage handling, as well as counselling and coordination services aimed at ensuring a smooth reception.

The government reiterated its commitment to ensuring that Nigerians returning from abroad are treated with dignity and given the necessary support to reintegrate into society.
