Natasha Promises Development-Focused Representation for Kogi Diaspora
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, has assured Kogi indigenes living abroad that ideas and concerns raised during engagements with them will be translated into practical development initiatives.
The senator gave the assurance following a meeting with members of the Ebira community in Maryland, United States, where discussions focused on the development of Ebiraland, Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole.
The gathering was organised by the Ebira First Forum and coordinated by Bashir Enesi Abubakar. It brought together members of the Ebira community as well as Nigerians from other backgrounds interested in the progress of the state and the country.
She also pointed to some projects facilitated through her office, citing the presentation of a letter of appreciation by Engr. Charles Jagun of Akoko Edo for streetlight projects carried out in the area.
According to the senator, the discussions extended beyond the interests of the Ebira community, with participants considering broader questions around effective leadership and development in Kogi State and Nigeria.
She said representation should involve more than legislative duties, stressing the importance of maintaining regular communication with constituents and responding to identified needs through concrete interventions.
The senator expressed appreciation to members of the diaspora community and other participants for their contributions, while also acknowledging the support of her husband, High Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan.
Akpoti-Uduaghan further indicated that she would continue engaging Nigerians both within the country and abroad, with the aim of incorporating their perspectives into her approach to community development and representation.
