A 32-year-old man, Anthony Williams, from Langford Road in Peterborough, has been charged in connection with the mass stabbing that took place on a London-bound train on November 1, British Transport Police confirmed on Monday.

Williams faces 10 counts of attempted murder, one count of actual bodily harm, and one count of possessing a bladed article following the attack that forced the train to make an emergency stop at Huntingdon station in Cambridgeshire.

Police further disclosed that Williams has also been charged with an additional count of attempted murder and possession of a bladed weapon in relation to a separate incident at Pontoon Dock DLR station in east London earlier the same day.

He is scheduled to appear before Peterborough Magistrates’ Court today, November 3.

Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy said the safety and welfare of the victims remain the force’s priority, adding that the investigation is also exploring whether further linked offences occurred. He cautioned the public and media against publishing prejudicial commentary that could interfere with ongoing legal proceedings.

Police have not released further details about the victims or a possible motive, but confirmed that enquiries are ongoing and additional updates will follow as the case progresses.
