Lebanon has officially closed voter registration for citizens living abroad ahead of the 2026 parliamentary elections, recording a total of 151,985 expatriates successfully registered. The Interior Ministry confirmed receiving 100,766 applications, all of which are now undergoing verification against official voter records to ensure accuracy.

Authorities highlighted a surge in registrations during the final days, demonstrating the diaspora’s strong commitment to participating in Lebanon’s democratic process. Lebanese embassies and consulates across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia played a central role in assisting citizens with registration.

The Interior and Foreign Ministries’ joint elections committee praised the efforts of diplomatic missions in preparing for overseas voting. Once verification is complete, preliminary voter lists will be shared with non-resident citizens through embassies and consulates to confirm personal details before finalizing participation in the elections.

This milestone underscores the continued engagement of Lebanon’s diaspora, which remains a vital component of the country’s electoral landscape.
