DIASPORA STORY – FEYISAYO ALAYANDE
Thank you so much for being here. You have a powerful diaspora journey. Please share it with our listeners.
Mrs. Alayande:I returned to Nigeria ten years ago after working in corporate finance with the Royal Bank of Scotland and HSBC. I also had the opportunity to work in India and Malaysia, where I saw firsthand how development finance changes lives.
When the opportunity came to serve Lagos State through LSETF, I knew it aligned perfectly with my passion — creating jobs, empowering people, and building a stronger economy. Employment is not just about income; it affects security, stability, dignity, and national growth.
At LSETF, our mission is simple: help Lagosians work, earn, grow, and thrive.
WHAT LSETF DOES FOR LAGOSIANS
Host: Tell us how listeners today can benefit directly from LSETF.
Mrs. Alayande: We operate through five core interventions, but let me highlight three major ones:
1. Access to Finance
We provide affordable loans at just 9% per annum — that is about 0.75% per month.Loan sizes range from ₦50,000 to ₦5 million, with repayment periods of 12 to 24 months.
Any Lagos resident with a LASRRA ID, BVN, and proper documentation can apply. You do not need to know anyone. Applications are open and transparent.
2. Access to Infrastructure
Through our job hubs, creative hubs, and fashion hubs, people can access equipment and professional workspaces without owning them.Through partnerships like the Dream Foundation Creative Hub and 360 Fashion Hub in Yaba, creatives, designers, podcasters, and entrepreneurs can work and grow.
3. Skills & Jobs
We train Lagos residents in high-demand skills and then connect them to real jobs and internships.Last year alone, we helped create over 60,000 jobs in Lagos State through skills training, job placements, and partnerships.
We invite diaspora professionals to come and train, mentor, invest, and partner with us. Together, we can build a future-ready Lagos.
THE DREAM FOUNDATION PARTNERSHIP
Host: I am proud to announce that The Dream Foundation is partnering with LSETF under the Lagos Innovates Programme.
Through our Free to Dream Initiative, creatives can now access free studio sessions for music, podcasting, photography, and content creation.
