Iran Warns U.S. Against Attacking Power Grid, Says Region Could Face Blackout

A senior Iranian political figure, Ali Larijani, has cautioned the United States against targeting Iran’s electricity infrastructure, warning that such a move could have widespread consequences across the Middle East.

Larijani’s remarks came in response to statements made by former U.S. president Donald Trump, who claimed Washington possesses the capability to disable Iran’s power system within a short period.

Trump had suggested that the United States could dismantle Iran’s electricity capacity in about an hour but had so far chosen not to take such action

He argued that such a blackout could occur rapidly and create instability that would extend beyond Iran’s borders.

Larijani further warned that a large-scale power outage could pose security risks for American military personnel deployed across the Middle East. In conditions of widespread darkness, he suggested, U.S. forces operating in the region could become more vulnerable.

The exchange of warnings comes amid heightened geopolitical tension involving Iran, the United States, and their regional allies, as concerns grow over the potential expansion of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Analysts say the rhetoric reflects the increasingly sharp tone between the two sides, with both countries continuing to signal their military capabilities while the situation remains volatile.
