Iran Warns Diaspora of Asset Confiscation for Cooperation With US and Israel

Authorities in Iran have warned that citizens living abroad could lose their assets if they are found to be cooperating with the governments of Israel or the United States.

The announcement was made through the judiciary’s official media platform, Mizan Online, which reported that individuals accused of assisting foreign governments considered hostile to Iran would face legal penalties.

According to officials, any Iranian living overseas who supports or collaborates with these countries against Iran’s interests could be subjected to asset confiscation and other punishments under national law.

The warning came from the office of Iran’s prosecutor-general, which stressed that the measures are aimed at protecting national security and deterring activities viewed as threats to the state.

Authorities said the move is backed by legislation introduced following heightened military tensions between Iran and Israel earlier in the year. The conflict also saw limited military involvement by the United States.

Government officials argue that the law provides legal tools to respond to actions they believe undermine Iran’s sovereignty and security.

However, the announcement has raised concerns among some members of the Iranian diaspora, who fear that the policy could create uncertainty for citizens living abroad with property or financial interests in Iran.

Analysts say the development could further strain relations between Iran and its overseas communities while adding another layer of tension to the already fragile geopolitical climate in the Middle East.
