Hundreds of Indonesians living in France gathered in Paris on Tuesday to welcome Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto during his official visit to the French capital.
The atmosphere outside the president’s hotel was filled with excitement as members of the Indonesian diaspora, including students and long-term residents, waited eagerly for a chance to meet the Indonesian leader.
Indonesian students studying in France also shared their excitement over meeting the president in person. Several of them said the opportunity was rare and meaningful, especially for young Indonesians pursuing education overseas.
During the interaction, President Prabowo reportedly spent time speaking with students about their studies and encouraged them to remain focused on their academic goals. The informal discussion was warmly received by the students, who said they appreciated the president’s accessibility and attention.
Members of the diaspora also expressed hope that the visit would strengthen ties between Indonesia and France, particularly in areas that could benefit Indonesian students and cultural exchange initiatives.
The gathering highlighted the strong connection many Indonesians abroad continue to maintain with their homeland, while also reflecting support for closer international cooperation between the two countries.
