Indonesian authorities have confirmed plans to deport a British national arrested in Bali after he was flagged on an international watchlist for alleged involvement in organised crime.
The suspect, a 45-year-old man identified by officials as “SL,” was apprehended shortly after arriving at Ngurah Rai International Airport. Immigration officers reportedly detected his status during a routine screening, which revealed an active Interpol red notice issued against him.
Police sources disclosed that the man is wanted in connection with a large transnational network accused of drug trafficking and money laundering across several countries. Investigators say the criminal operation spans parts of Europe and the Middle East, including Spain, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Turkey.
Authorities believe the suspect plays a leading role within the network, coordinating operations across multiple jurisdictions. His arrest is seen as part of broader international efforts to dismantle organised crime groups operating across borders.
Indonesian officials indicated that arrangements are underway to return him to the United Kingdom, where further legal proceedings are expected. The deportation process is anticipated to be completed within days, pending administrative procedures.
Meanwhile, security agencies are actively searching for two individuals believed to have travelled with the suspect to Bali but evaded detection at the airport. Their identities have not yet been disclosed.
The arrest underscores Indonesia’s continued cooperation with global law enforcement bodies, particularly in tracking fugitives listed under Interpol alerts.
