The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has announced the appointment of Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi Placid, as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO). The appointment is part of a strategic reshuffling aimed at enhancing the communication and image-management department of the Nigeria Police Force.

The new FPRO brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served in various public relations capacities within the force. His appointment is seen as a move to bring more professionalism and transparency to the way the police interact with the media and the general public.
In his new role, Placid will be responsible for managing the official narrative of the police force, addressing public concerns, and highlighting the achievements of the force in combating crime. The IGP urged him to utilize modern communication tools to bridge the gap between the police and the citizens.
The appointment comes at a time when the Nigeria Police Force is working to rebuild public trust following various controversies. Stakeholders have expressed hope that the new spokesperson will foster a more open and accountable relationship with civil society and the press.

ACP Placid’s predecessor has been reassigned to other duties, marking a new chapter for the Force Public Relations Department. The new FPRO is expected to assume office immediately and outline his vision for the department in the coming days.
