Governor Adeleke Applauds Justice Oyewole’s Supreme Court Elevation

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has officially extended his congratulations to Justice Joseph Oyewole following his prestigious appointment to the Supreme Court of Nigeria. In a statement released on Thursday by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the Governor described the elevation as a "well-deserved" milestone that reflects the jurist's decades of dedication to the Nigerian judiciary.



​Governor Adeleke noted that this appointment serves as a significant source of pride for the people of Osun State. He praised Justice Oyewole’s unblemished character and his formidable track record in the administration of justice, asserting that the jurist represents the finest values of the state’s intellectual and moral heritage.

The Governor expressed absolute confidence in the ability of the new Justice to discharge his duties with his trademark distinction. Citing Oyewole’s extensive experience, Adeleke highlighted that the jurist has spent over twenty years effectively and dispassionately dispensing justice, which prepares him perfectly for the complexities of the nation's highest court.

​The appointment comes on the heels of a recommendation by the National Judicial Council (NJC) during its 110th meeting held on January 13, 2026. The session, presided over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, saw Justice Oyewole who was previously the Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division selected alongside 35 other judicial officers..



Governor Adeleke concluded his message by wishing Justice Oyewole a successful tenure at the apex court. He reiterated that the state remains steadfast in its support of its citizens who reach the pinnacle of their professional careers, noting that Oyewole’s success serves as an inspiration to legal practitioners throughout the federation.
