Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has firmly declared that he will not defect from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), putting to rest speculation about his possible exit ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Makinde made the declaration amid growing rumors of internal realignments within opposition circles. The governor stated unequivocally that he remains committed to the PDP’s ideals and vision, emphasizing that his political future remains tied to the party’s platform.

The governor acknowledged that while internal disagreements may exist, they are not unusual in democratic settings. He stressed the need for constructive dialogue and unity within the PDP to reposition it as a viable alternative at the national level in 2027.

Political observers interpret Makinde’s statement as a strategic move to stabilize the party’s structure in the South-West region, where the PDP continues to battle for dominance. His affirmation may also influence other key figures considering political recalibration.

As Nigeria’s political landscape gradually shifts toward the next electoral cycle, Makinde’s stance sends a strong message about party loyalty and long-term political strategy within the opposition bloc.
