Global African Diaspora Awards Celebrate Nigerian Excellence in Texas

The second edition of the Global African Diaspora Awards (GADA) shone a spotlight on Nigerians making significant contributions across various sectors, as the event unfolded at the Golden Tree Banquet on Saturday.
The ceremony attracted over 400 guests from around the world, including executives in oil and gas, leaders in technology and healthcare, legal luminaries, business magnates, and figures from the entertainment industry.
Community advocates, social influencers, and music artists were also present, creating a vibrant atmosphere of recognition and inspiration.
Notable attendees included Miss Chinelo Aniekwu, Miss Grande Georgia USA 2025; Miss Josephine Nwaogu, Miss Diaspora Nigeria USA 2025; and reality star Michael Illesanmi of 90 Day Fiancé.
A highlight of the evening was the fashion showcase by BCD Fashion House, in collaboration with Dexterity Talents Inc., presenting the luxurious evening wear collection of designer Hawah Kromah. Each piece was praised for its elegance, craftsmanship, and attention to detail, capturing the audience’s admiration.
Obi-West Utchaychukwu, founder and executive producer of GADA, emphasized the importance of the awards: “Celebrating these achievements goes beyond individual success. It amplifies the collective voice of Africans worldwide, showcasing their impact and inspiring the next generation.”
Award recipients included Joseph Oche Udeh (Bigsmart) as MC/Hypeman of the Year, Nigerian artist David Cross Idukomose (Kwate) as Entertainer of the Year, and DJ Prince as Best African DJ (Global). Engr. Stella Ifeoma Okengwu, CEO of Winhomes Global Services, received Dynamic CEO of the Year, while Jumai Ghaji of Suya on the Spot was named Entrepreneur of the Year.
Dr. Kennedy Nnadi, CEO of Pennek Heights, earned Developer of the Year, and Bolaji Ajimotokan, the first African to establish a federal credit union in Texas, was honored with the Global Business Ingenuity Award.
Looking ahead, the third edition of GADA is scheduled for 2026 in Houston, with a subsequent event planned for Paris in 2027, marking the awards’ continued global outreach and recognition of African excellence.
