The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring safe and secure learning environments for all Nigerian students as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the Safe School Initiative.

Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite, made this known in Abuja during the 2025 International Students’ Day celebration organised by the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement.
In a statement issued by the SA’s office, the minister said the administration continued to prioritise funding for education, teachers’ welfare, school-feeding programmes, and safety-focused policies aimed at protecting learners across the country.
She noted that safeguarding the nation’s youth remained a shared national duty, stressing that students’ resilience and creativity were essential to building Nigeria’s future leadership and intellectual capacity.

The celebration, which brought together top-performing students from tertiary and secondary institutions nationwide, also highlighted ongoing government interventions designed to promote academic excellence and student welfare.
“The government will continue to ensure funding for education, teachers’ salaries, school-feeding programmes, and safe learning environments through initiatives such as the Safe School Initiative,” Uzoka-Anite said.
The youth of this country are a collective responsibility of everyone. Today, we celebrate more than grades, we celebrate the future of Nigeria.” Asefon also added that rewarding excellence was a direct investment in national development.
The event featured scholarships, laptops, cash awards, and empowerment tools for top graduates, while outstanding secondary-school students received N100,000 each. The 2025 commemoration, themed “Empowering Students to be Agents of Change,” also showcased national efforts toward patriotism, student rights, and productive engagement.
