Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening support for local production across Nigeria’s economic sectors.

Speaking in Abuja at the Made-in-Naija Trade Exhibition organised by the House of Representatives Committee on Commerce, Shettima said Nigeria’s economic identity and global relevance must be defined by what the nation creates.

He emphasised that Nigeria’s future rests on the creativity, enterprise, and ingenuity of its people, noting that the country’s true wealth lies not in natural resources but in how Nigerians transform them into economic value.

Shettima described the exhibition as more than a showcase of products, calling it a statement of intent that signals the government’s readiness to elevate Nigerian brands and expand opportunities for local producers.

He also stressed that creativity alone is insufficient without strong national support for homegrown products, arguing that patronage is a crucial investment in Nigerian jobs, innovation, and economic stability.

“There is nothing that advertises the pride of a nation as much as the craft, creativity and conceptions of its people,” Shettima said. “They do more than signal capability, they nourish the economy and give life to dreams yet to be imagined.”
“It is not enough for us to produce; we must patronise what we produce. Every time we choose a Nigerian-made product, we strengthen the naira, support jobs, and build a sustainable middle class,” he added.

The Vice President reaffirmed that President Bola Tinubu’s administration views local creators as key partners in national renewal and is investing in infrastructure, financing, policy stability, and global-standard certification systems to help Nigerian industries scale and compete internationally.
