The Ekiti State High Court has announced plans to digitalise its case management processes through the deployment of the Nigeria Case Management System (NCMS), a move aimed at enhancing efficiency and improving access to justice. The initiative is expected to modernise judicial operations across the state.

The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye, disclosed this on Monday in Ado-Ekiti during a stakeholders’ roundtable on the enrolment and onboarding of the state judiciary into the NCMS Legal Mail and e-Filing Application. He said the judiciary had acquired the necessary hardware and trained relevant personnel.
According to Ogunmoye, the NCMS will introduce standardised processes across federal and state high courts, with features such as case tracking, electronic document management, and automated alerts. He explained that the system would significantly reduce delays and minimise opportunities for corruption.
He further noted that lawyers would be able to file cases remotely, while judges could handle aspects of their responsibilities outside the courtroom, thereby improving flexibility and productivity within the justice system.

The NCMS, an initiative of the National Judicial Council implemented through the Judicial Information Technology Policy Committee of Nigeria, is designed to strengthen transparency and accountability. Ogunmoye added that the Ekiti judiciary had met all technical requirements, including reliable internet connectivity and a functional local area network.
