Education District VI has successfully hosted a Capacity Building Training for Physical and Health Education (PHE) teachers, aimed at improving teaching quality and promoting holistic student development across schools in the district.

Speaking at the event, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District VI, Mrs. Mojisola Christiana Yusuff, commended the initiative and urged teachers to stay updated on international sports regulations. She encouraged the organisation of inter- and intra-school activities to enhance students’ physical fitness, critical thinking, and academic performance.

Earlier, the Acting Director of Co-curricular, Science and Technology, Mrs. Osiyemi F. M., highlighted the importance of continuous professional development for educators. She noted that teachers play a critical role in shaping students’ health consciousness, discipline, teamwork, and lifelong wellness habits.

Facilitators at the training guided participants through emerging trends in athletics, ethical standards, teamwork, and action planning for effective lesson delivery. Teachers were encouraged to share knowledge gained with colleagues to promote institutional growth.

At the end of the programme, participants are expected to demonstrate improved PHE competencies, apply new strategies effectively, show increased confidence and initiative, and translate acquired knowledge into practical solutions that benefit schools and communities.
